Blogging books work for me because I like books and I am a blogger.
Bloggers need a constant stream of content ideas. One way to turn on the faucet for content ideas is to choose a handful of categories you blog in. Blogging books works for Dobedo because we read books.
One perfect reason to blog about books is that books is a large category with many niche’s. There are many ways you can break up books into smaller categories, or niches.
Blogging about books can look different for many bloggers.
Maybe you get your content ideas from the books you’re currently reading. If you’re reading multiple books at once, you can easily have multiple blogs in progress.
Likewise, you could blog about books on your TBR or your favorite books of the last year.
This Mark Twain advice pre-dates “blogging”, but holds true to writing blogs about books.
If you read a lot of books about witches and plants, check out some keyword research, and write a blog about witch garden books.
You could do a book report style blog about each book you read if you’d like. Or a round up style blog of your favorite books in a certain category.
If you’re an audio listener, you could write a blog post about your favorite narrators. One of my current reads is a listen, thankfully, because the narration is wonderful. It feels like a performance. Remarkably Bright Creatures.
10/10 would recommend. Let’s just say, it’s about a sassy octopus.
If you’re not in the habit of reading daily or weekly, try doing a monthly reading challenge. It’s okay if you don’t complete a whole book each month. Let’s just try it.
One of my favorite things about this past year was stepping my internet toes into the author community. As a writer of books, your blog posts will differ significantly from blogging about books as a business owner.
As an author, your blog posts about books could include topics like:
If you’re writing blogs as a business owner, one category of content you could write about are books in your niche. Let’s say you’re an earthy home decor store. You could write about house plant books. If you’re a homesteader, you could be blogging on books about chickens or planting a medicine garden.
If you’re a car company, you could write about the history of car races. A christmas light company could write about the zoo lighting displays in your area.
One reason it makes sense to be blogging about books is that books are finished projects you can refer to in the real world. Another is that you can link to books as an affiliate.
For example, here’s an affiliate link to a $77 hardcover book called Blogging.
