I did it you guys. I called out of work.
It’s been … over a decade. Now, don’t get me wrong. I’m not saint. Many of those years I did not even have a job to call out of. But today I did it. I called out of work.
Simply put, ragweed. I have hayfever.
Or whatever is (literally) floating around these day. I don’t **feel** sick, and I’m not contagious, but my nose is… unhinged.
I’ve been hemming and hawing about staying home because I’ve gone so long without working a steady job I still feel guilty about not working, like I need to pay my dues. But my employer has plan for this. A plan for me to bet on when I’ve called out of work.
I’m not missing out on money I’m just at home, getting paid for it.
So I did it!
Since I just have allergies but am not sick, I will treat today like a workday for my writing side hustle.
Some cleaning, laundry, a tad of gardening, and writing.
I feel privileged to have a job that has paid days off and proud to have a lil side hustle already set up so I can just write some blogs.
Writing is fun for me. If writing is fun for you, too, you might consider a writing side hustle this winter.
Another positive for having called out of work is that I get to work on my winter side hustle.
I’m doing No Spend September to prepare for a Low Buy Year and am excited to write about that this coming winter.
Since I called out of work but have a fund account to still earn my daily pay, I’m finding it very easy to write some words.
My writing side hustle is officially a thing now that I have a full time job. I’m finding it much easier to publish blogs now that the blogs aren’t supposed to pay for the roof over my head.
I serve my actual local community for work, so calling out of work because I’m sneezing every five minutes is a benefit to many of my local humans.
