You’ve seen em. The row of dots on the social queen’s Instagram profile. If you save a clickable link in Instagram story to a highlight, you have a clickable little shop on Instagram.
Not really sure how they got there or what they’re for.
That’s okay. I’m going to show you one way to use them.
The little dots are sometimes used professionally and sometimes used to show pretty pictures of your animals. Depends what you’re into. One way I plan to use Instagram for business is to set up a little clickable shop with my products. It’s fun to know there’s a breadcrumb trail to your items or products when you post on Instagram. It means it’s a super low press way to sell the things you already spent so much time getting together.
Once you figure out this simple little trick, you’ll know how to use Instagram for business. One simple way, at least.
Create a clickable link in instagram story and save to highlights. Voilà!
Firstly, you’ll create a reel that has your product in it. There are unlimited ways to make a reel, we could talk about that for days. Three things that will help your reel be seen are:
to keep it short af by trimming the video before you choose audio
add movement in your video, either by moving the thing, or moving the camera
Mention or show a product. (In this case.)
You can share any of your past reels to your stories.
Pull up your instagram. Go to your own feed page, the profile pic option.
Click into the reel you’d like to add a clickable link to.
Click the send button, the paper airplane icon, then click ‘Add reel to your story”. No before you click Your Story or the arrow, you’re going to add a sticker, for step 3!
Click the square smiley sticker icon and click the blue link.
Copy/Paste the Url in there.
+ Customize sticker text —>> to a call to action or the name of your thing! “Click me!”
***If you’re an affiliate of Try Something New Every Month, let’s make sure you have your link set up in your phone so it’s super easy to add in to a quick disappearing story. ****
Now that your story is up, you have 24 hours to save it to highlights.
Any story can be a highlight. It basically makes a permanent story.
It lives up in the little circles that some people have, under your bio, before your photos. The first image you add to a highlight will be the “forever” thumbnail, an dyou have to name the highlight series the first time.
You may want to create a little canva graphic to be the cover of each highlight series. Check out a few accounts with this idea in mind if this is tracking fo you and you want to pull it all together. Decide if you need to make canva graphics first or if you’re just going to pick a pretty reel to be the face of your first highlight bubble. (which is really your last highlight bubble, if you add more.).
If you’re an affiliate, don’t just promote something to the regular site, get your affiliate link posted so that you receive credit. Get your affiliate link posted to your text replacements to make this process faster.
Many companies use a network for their affiliate program, like Rakuten, CJ, or ShareASale. To earn your affiliate pay out there you’ll have to meet a certain threshold. This allows you to meet the payout requirement using many brands, not just one.
Setting up a clickable shop on Instagram, even if it’s just for affiliate products you love is a good idea in case you blow up.
If you get a million views on a random IG Reel or TikTok, having a little rabbit hole if interests will be interesting to some of your new random follows that are wondering about you.
A new little revenue stream.
Pretty cool.

One little path that leads towards a sustainable business is to create a clickable store within your Instagram account. You’ll use a handful of Instagram’s most popular features to create a passive revenue stream. Like maybe just a little babbling brook, that can grow as you grow. Instagram likes when you use it’s most popular features.
You can use this method whether you sell your own products, work for a well-known company, or are simply affiliating for products you love.
If you don’t turn your instagram into a tiny little clickable shop of products you love, nothing bad will happen. But you won’t be creating a cool new little revenue stream.
Social Media an YouTube isn’t going away anytime soon. The internet’s been around since the 90s. We have more robots, not less. Social Media is how we connect. Social interaction is different, but we still crave interacting with other humans. Machines are fun,but at the end of the day, they’re just a new way for humans to connect with humans.
