If you’re looking for it, there’s skateboarding on TV 24 hours a day in 2023. Documentary about skateboarding or skating videos of lines and tricks. Between The Nine Club, contest coverage, the Olympics, and girls’ skateboarding … the flip tricks are out there. If the sound of wheels on bricks make you chill— you’re in for all the skating videos you could have dreamt of in highschool. Personally, I have a hard time watching skaters fall. Particularly off houses and onto rails. Nevertheless, more stories like this documentary on skateboarding focused on Nike shoes could be sweet. Likewise, the history of boards or wheels could be cool-ish to check out.
I didn’t look into it too much before I smashed the watch button. I’m not always watching the skate videos, but bf is all in on watching dudes skate. The video was a documentary on the history of the sb shoes. Reminds me of a story in a book.
Spoiler— they achieve success by focusing on scarcity and collaborations.
Er, Youtube suggested my bf watch this documentary about skateboarding shoes.
He’s the one looking for skateboarding 24 hours, or at least … anytime I leave him to Couchville alone.
But skateboarding X business?!!
Basically, count me in— on the documentary.
Not particularly keen on starting a business in skateboarding.
We already did the market research on that, circa 2017, and the “proof of concept” was … denied. But big-ups to Fish for letting me into Surf Expo even though you didn’t really *have* to. Would love to see Surf Expo or Agenda do a documentary on skateboarding or surfing.
We’re doing something else now— we’ve officially joined the online-only work life of Affiliate Marketing.
That’s what we do now. *looks around*.
“Collaboration”.
Okay, so as the documentary on skateboarding goes …
Eventually, turn it into a sought-after shoe for skaters & sneakerheads alike.
Occasionally, there’s some beef in the skater world that the sneakerheads buy up all the Nike SB shoes.
Secondly, there’s some beef in the sneakerhead scene because skaters buy shoes to “ruin” them.
Yeah. A lot of dudes are into shoes.
We didn’t get that memo growing up.
I thought girls wanted the shoes.
Now boys like shoes too.
Undeniably confusing? Or not really?
I’m sure if you watch that 12 minute video, Youtube will chase you down with the full doc. That’s how the algorithm works. Oh yeah you like that don’t you?! Here’s more … more … more!
Start with the 12 minute video. Finish it. Soon, hour long suggestions on the same topic are coming right up.
Here’s a link to Vice’s page full of Skate Videos.
And I’ll link out to Skateboarder HQ’s Roundup of documentaries on skateboarding.
While I have you, I’m going to shove Longboard Girl’s Crew’s Open in your Youtube list of Documentaries about Skateboarding, too. While we’re over here being all voicey copywriters and such…
Since I’m doing so much to please Yoast— I might as well shout out to my friend’s documentary on skateboarding from the longboard women’s perspective. Just try being open to it. The production and humans involved are excellent folk.
But isn’t Nike following the same path as Airwalk in the 90s?
Wait? Are we not reinventing the wheel here? Is this story about shoes not the first story worthy of a documentary on skateboarding?
What’s going on?
I want to ride this segue into a blog about the book “Tipping Point”.
Similarly, this same scenario—
Niche shoes particularly for niche markets…
Or rather, is that Outliers?
Blink?
Thinking Fast & Slow?
David & Goliath?
The Purple Cow?
Is it not Tipping Point?
I guess since it’s raining. I’ll focus on writing specifically about Tipping Point for a few hours. What else would I hyper-focus on for this rainy day?
Unless I find something more curious to do. While we allow our genius to bring something more curious to our brain—
Okay. Yeah. Let’s try it. Dobedo.
Trying new things is fun.
That’s one of the themes of the Airwalk & the Nike story.
Wait, am I sure this isn’t from outliers?
We can focus on the story about Airwalk and how it relates to the Nike SB documentary!
Do you remember Airwalk as being cool or lame?
The ultimate goal? To get my Yoast SEO Score to Say “Good” with a green smiley face.
That’s the real MVP.
That’s what makes blogging so difficult for a creative person.
It’s one thing to write a lifestyle blog or tell a story about traveling. A story you know.
E.g. a story about skateboarding and the history of how hard it is to thrive as a business.
Conversely, it’s another to write for SEO. Skateboarding is more fun than writing for seo.
Presently, I’m copyediting this blog for transition words. Not the fun type of transition. Since Yoast says my blog would be better if I use transition words surprisingly more often than I do. Indeed, I am trying to get to 30% of my sentences containing transition words.
Ya know what? SaLLY…
Let’s decide to decide.
Basically, I wrote this blog once for my readers. Once for myself. Another time for Yoast. Regardless if this blog ever gets read, it will pass the readability test. Eventually, I’ll reach the 30% mark. However, I’m not sure these extra sentences added much. On one hand, you’re supposed to be on brand. Although WordPress urges me to hit a mark. Presently, I’m fixated on it and my ADHD won’t let me down. Instead of adding extra oomph to my writing, I’m looking to score. Still striving for 30% of my sentences to contain transition words. So close, Babe! The light in my office is flickering. Obviously a ghost. Evidently, that’s enough sentences containing transition words according to Yoast. Regardless, I’m getting second coffee today. Equally important.
Particularly, I’m separating my SEO-focused blogs from my entertainment-focused blogs. That might have been a tip I picked up from my “Year of Learning”, or it might be something I’m making up now. Likely, the it-already-exists option.
This will be a sneak-peak of the Tipping Point blog I’ll take more seriously. Today, I’m teasing the idea of a book blog. I’m getting my writing ya-yas out. Getting the green smiley from the YOAST SEO plugin on WordPress is an entire process. It’s a whole thing.
I wrote about starting affiliate marketing without a following by blogging about books. It takes time. There are many steps. More steps than running it through the Hemingway App to ditch all your silly adverbs.
Okay … It’s been like 1000(ish) days now.
An Epidemic means the thing is localized. Like … a Melenzana hoodie in the rocky mountains. If an epidemic grows and grows, it will reach a tipping point, where it becomes a Pandemic.
Don’t shoot! I come in peace!
Two decades before we all had to sit at home and twiddle our thumbs until our grandpas died.
I don’t like to talk about the Dark Ages, but you know.
I did it anyway.
My Facebook page is blowing up with all the
“3 years ago today” posts from the zombie apocalypse.
Happy to report— I recently traveled through a few major airports. I came out the other side without a cough or brain fog!
Rather, I made great new connections, and rekindled friendships. (and one that may have ended? I dunno. You ever break up with a friend?)
Overall, I had a great time traveling, even though there were so many … people!
(aka have a one-sided conversation with myself using only my fingers)
If I could have a genie give me a dream-come-true (lifelong student) I’d be super into taking a class of his at … *looks it up*
oh, is he not a professor?
I think that’s Adam Grant … The professor *looks it up* … at Wharton … anyway.
Yeah, sure. I’d take that. If a magic genie gave me a secret wish. Or my affiliate blog starts working, and I have time to consume instead of create content again. *daydreams of butterflies*
My favorite writing teacher is my 10th-grade English teacher.
I forget her name. Lol. She left our school after teaching our class & decided to teach kindergarten instead. High schoolers are jerks. I loved her. You’d think I’d remember her name, but nope. I don’t. And also, she left me. So I guess I canceled her like she canceled my entire high school English honors class. Oh, but the way she taught The Great Gatsby…
Lol. I almost wrote “the Green Gatsby”. The stoner version of the great American classic?! … F Scott? You down? It sounds like from your fake letter during the Spanish Flu, that you coulda used a little j or two. puff puff pass?
I’ve been really loving rewatching all the Wednesdays on Netflix for their copywriting. It’s just. so. good. So brandy. Voicey. So dark, but so well played. And Ologies. Science communicator? I’m into it.
Enough rambling. I’m off to write my real blog about The Tipping Point. Follow it up with a nice juicy blog about Big Magic. Blink? Might write a blog about Blink this month, too. I have like 182 things I like about Blink. How many blogs do I even need to write to rank for…What am I ranking for with this blog? I think, erm … nothing. This one’s for funsies.
My favorite SEO Teach (Ryan Moreno) says “you might not want to rank for every blog you write. That’s okay.”
**phew**
Generally, I think this blog is better for personality, and likely not ranking for SEO anytime soon.
Will any of my blogs rank for SEO anytime soon?
Would you like an accountability crew to help you try something new every month?
At Dobedo, we do be trying new things every month.
In-house, March was to “meet people in person again”, which we did by going to Social Media Marketing World and meeting up with our dirty garage crew to skate in Los Angeles at midnight. April is to “write a bunch of blogs.” We’re so stoked about the sheer-joy writing blogs for SEO brings— we’re starting early.
Also, it’s hard and we could use all the practice we can get.
PS: I got double-smileys. *phew*. That wasn’t easy, but we tried it. We overcame the obstacles. The boredom. Keeping at it made the whole thing better. Funny how that works.
What do you like to do for fun?

This is my featured image. I put it down here cause I’m like … curating my blog images kinda like an Instagram feed in the good old days. I’ve been going a little ham with my robots and this photo is AI. See how the trucks are all weird?
If you’ve never made images like this above, check out my blog on how to use canva. It’s just a little dabble into making graphics online.
