Hey, Howdy, Hi. It’s Daisy. Back with another blog. Today we’re chatting about how to affiliate market without a following. Do you ever wonder how many affiliate marketers there are? It’s a lot.
Jumping in is the best way I know how to learn. When it is time to learn how to affiliate market, start by doing.
Even though I don’t have a big following, I’m going to try affiliate marketing without a following.
I learn best by doing. What’s your learning style?
Do you learn best by reading or writing? Hearing or speaking? Doing or watching people do?
You can start today if you’re wondering how to affiliate market without a website. You’ll use your socials or your email list. Your youtube channel or you can print marketing material with QR codes that go straight to your affiliate link. Having a business with an ancillary affiliate partner is one answer to how to make money affiliate marketing without a following.
My brain works in an affiliate manner. 🧠 It’s just a big-ole Game of Association inside. ➿ The narrator of my life will not shut up. Not unless we take it to bed. Always very thankful I find it easy to rest at night. I’ve been wondering how to start affiliate marketing with no money for years, but kicked it into high gear earlier this year.
Sometimes I wake up dreaming about writing a blog that links out to references I’m alluding to.
🛌 💭 ✍️ 📚
I make jokes that end with a punch line that is the title of a book, or the lyrics to a song. 🎶
Or at least, that’s my best guess as to what I’d do with a robust blog full of links and content to refer to.
It’s a rainy winter day when I am writing this blog from. 🌧️🌧️🌧️ I’m SO BORED of rain at this point. They say it’s a historical winter for precipitation, and that’s great. But.
I need something to do inside. “You could write a blog, Daisy.”
Yeah, I know. I can write a blog. But that gets me wondering.
Maybe you’re wondering too.
Ubersuggest says there are about 10 people every month searching for the long-tail keyword “how to affiliate market without a following”, so I know I’m not alone.
There are many platforms already set up to accept affiliates for various books. A few are Amazon and its many subsidiaries, Bookshop.org, Indigo Books, the Canadian store, also Books a Million, and Barnes and Noble also have robust affiliate marketing programs.
I’m learning how to start affiliate marketing with no money by writing blogs. Writing blogs about books will teach me how to affiliate market without a following. Writing about affiliate marketing will help me gain a following. Books are something I’m continuously coming back to no matter how many people are following me on social. So it’s a natural place for me to begin my affiliate journey.
I have a few brands I’m pretty loyal to as well, on account of their compatibility with my lifestyle, the quality of the product, and the longevity of the brand. Like Manduka Yoga Mats and Tonic Site Shop website templates.
So even though I don’t really have a focused following today, I’m going to try affiliate marketing without a following this month, and maybe I’ll GET a following.
Today I’m going to start with signing up for a book affiliate program. Then, I’ll start to apply for some of those awesome brands I love to love.
I’m not really sure, yet. I’m just a beginner. I’ve already duped my personal Amazon affiliate program by not selling enough fast enough. So my suggestion is not to sign up as an Amazon affiliate until you’re ready to start writing about things you like on Amazon.
We can also sign up for Books A Million affiliate program in an attempt to outwit the Amazon.
My bf’s all aboard the anti-besos train, but I’m not really there yet. I’m chillin’ on the tracks reading a book I bought on Amazon in 1995 when all the slung were novels.
Am I doing it? Outwitting Amazon? Not sure.
I write in my blog branding checklist in Notion to follow up with blogs 14 months later, so we’ll check in, okay?
I started signing up for BAM’s Affiliate program (not the skateboarder) over the weekend— when I’m distinctly NOT supposed to be writing blogs, according to all the small business tips out there.
But ya know what?
Writers gonna write.
And affiliates gonna affiliate.
And sometimes, that’s on a Sunday.
Whatever.
CJ Affiliate requires each participant to complete an onboarding checklist before they are officially in the club.
Cool. I can do that.
I keep my EIN number handy in my Workflowy App. Under “Admin”. A super quick search will bring it right up for me. Yay. I work best when there’s less friction. I only have so much attention to give to any one thing. So yeah … I can validate my email, enter my administrator info, complete my network profile, get CJ my tax papers, and complete the onboarding checklist, all after remembering my password …
But it might take me two days. On account of my ADHD. Three, maybe.
That’s fine, right?
(Yes. That’s fine.)
If you don’t sell within the first 180 days, it’s really hard to get back in. Since I already messed that up with my personal amazon, I want to have a whole affiliate blogging system established in place before I beg them to pick me again.
I don’t like to beg.
One thing your SEO is going to need is for you to link out to authority sites and to link back to yourself.
If you never write a blog because you don’t have blogs to link to, you’ll always never have a blog. We’re against absolutes that keep us thinking we’re not good enough. Writing blogs and including affiliate links is affiliate market training. We do be doing affiliate marketting.
At Dobedo, we try new things. Even if it’s not perfect. We just start where we are with what we’ve got.
One thing I have is a fondness for books. And I have a cabin in the woods. Just how I always dreamed of being a writer. By candlelight in the woods.
Be careful what you wish for. The weather is real around here. We lose power often & sometimes I do find myself reading by candlelight. Sometimes I write, but I’m a way faster typer. Candlelight will get me a few random notes on a post-it, but it won’t get me a blog about blogging about how to affiliate market without a following using books.
Or rather … it’s the cusp of spring & winter when the rains are hard & the snows are deep (but I don’t live there this season) & the puppies are cute, even though they bite and are wet.
The mountain lions get their pick of bucks, the owls hoot hard in the night, and the hawks sing in the rain that drives the gophers out of their holes. Or at least I think that’s what brings the hawks around.
The squirrels eat my lettuce. 🥬 🐿️
so I can link you out to all these books I’m referring to in my head and in my copy. Next, I think … I’ll do Audible. But that’s ALSO, Amazon, right? Are they a monopoly or what? Audible is my longest relationship. We’ve been together for years. Can’t cancel or you’ll lose your whole bookshelf. And I have books in there I like to return to.
Books like Nudge. Have you read that one?
It’s a big part of Dobedo’s whole she-bang. The main idea is that if you’re in a position of power, it’s a bit of your duty to guide your people in the right direction. Because you’re doing the guiding whether you’re thinking about the right direction or not. The book is a nudge to get you to look at where you’re nudging people. I like other books, too.
Big Magic, Tipping Point, Educated?
Read any of those?
Sometimes I think that’s an easier Q to A. The one without the absolute. Easier to get some, more, or less, than all or every. Sometimes is easier than all or never. Agree or disagree?
Hit reply, comment, or click the link to answer the book question.
If I could learn just one thing about you today …
I’m supercalafragalistically interested in the books you like. I could use something fun to dig me out of (or deeper into) this neuroscience hole.
K, thx. Bye!
PS. Entrepreneurship is just like one thing after another! Eye yi yi.
One thing I’m noticing now, as I write this blog about blogging for affiliate marketing before you have a following by focusing on books– is that my text expander snippets aren’t opening in WordPress.
So now I’ll go ahead and google Why My Text Expander Snippets aren’t opening and go read all about it here. Because— Ah! Wait! Now it’s working?! I just made an em dash from two hyphens. That’s the thing I was hoping to do! Look– Wait, nope … now we’re back to two dashes. Off to troubleshoot. Because I’m obsessed with Text Snippets and setting up shortcodes to help me smoothly do what I want with my keyboard. It’s a tool for me to use. I don’t need to conform to it. I can mold it into what I need! Okay. Yeah. Probably write another blog about Text Expander later cause I love it so much.
Love it like a grammar bitch loves the em dash. ( — )
I need to put this photo here for my featured photo to look as I like. Consider me learning the ropes.
